CASE STUDIES

Proposed Heating and Ventilation Layout
for Morrinsville Events Centre

Initial heating and ventilation proposal (above), provided for a series of infra-red heaters to be installed.  However the Avon Air Handlers proved to be adequate, making the infra-red heaters unnecessary.

The Events Centre is designed for multi-activities.   The heating and ventilation system is of the ultra-quiet type and avoids strong air currents which could affect games such as badminton.
User friendly controls compliment the system.

Exhaust Air Handlers (top right) are matched to the Supply Air Handlers (top left).

Thoughtful design shows
in events centre building

GOOD thinking is evident in the design of the WestpacTrust Events Centre.
Electric ventilators are set up in the court area so they circulate fresh air without creating currents which could disturb events, such as badminton.
Large ventilators at the top of the side walls draw in fresh air from outside and quietly pump it down the wall - minimising cross-court air movement.
Matching ventilators at the top of the end walls draw warm (and stale) air out of the building.
Two practice courts
run across the width of the building. These can be separated by a vinyl curtain, so a team can save expenses by hiring only one court, if that's all they need.
A full size court runs the length of the building. At some time in the future, mobile seating (racks of seats on wheels)
would be bought to provide seating for up to 600 spectators.
There are four sets of changing/shower areas - two in the northeast corner and two in the northwest corner. This arrangement allows privacy and security for all combinations of mens, womens and childrens teams.
